The premier ministry of International Celebration Association is our shoe ministry. We collect croc-style shoes and flip-flops and ship them to Guyana. We have done shoe distributions to large groups in the towns and small groups in remote villages. Shoes are needed items and we have had crowds form at 4:30 a.m. to wait for a 10:00 program and distribution. In 2010, however, most of our shoe distributions have been in river villages. That makes it necessary to take the shoes on small boats to the villages. We gather the children, often in the village schoolhouse, for our program. We teach them praise songs and we present a Bible story that gives them a clear explanation of the Gospel. The children are told how they can trust Jesus as their Savior. Afterwards, they sit across from a team member and have their feet washed while they discuss the Bible story that was presented. They then have a chance to ask questions about Jesus and their relationship to Him. Many have decided to ask Jesus to be their Savior. They are given the gift of new shoes, and if they accepted Jesus as Savior, their information is notated and given to a local pastor who can follow up. In the evenings we have Celebration Worship Services for the entire village and often surrounding villages come. Since there is no electricity, our team takes generators to run the lights and sound system. We worship together with music that can be heard throughout the village. We include testimonies of believers and a powerful message from the Bible. God has been faithful to prepare the hearts of the villagers, and we have had extremely large numbers of people who have indicated that they have accepted Christ as their Savior.
"Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet."
